3 Tonne Winter Warmth for Ranyane – How it happened…
The people of Kaaukwe gave Russell the Tswana name, “Kabelo”, meaning “he who gives”. On his first outreach, he was touched by the rags the bushmen were wearing and got us all to donate, whatever we didn’t need, to the people of Kaaukwe. That was the birth of 1 Tonne Clothes for Ranyane in 2008, the nearby village, where the need was even bigger.
The people from Ranyane work for a plate of food a day and a cow per year. Russel and Barend with Oom Drom, one of the oldest bushmen in Ranyane. He knows five Afrikaans words and greets everyone with: “Ja boetie, wat sê jy?”
