4×4 Outing: 31 Ma7 2014
In the true spirit of giving, members of the Nissan 4×4 Club in association with Outreach2Africa have once again given back to their community. Sponsored by Nissan South Africa, the Club recently hosted the 4×4.4.Kids event, in which club members engaged with a group of special needs children for a day of off-roading fun at Africa Dream Adventures.
The children (aged between eight and sixteen years) enjoyed hours of fun on the trail with Club members who used their personal vehicles to explore the technical off-road environment. As they are not afforded the chance to get out very often, the opportunity for the children to ride in various 4×4 vehicles over various obstacles and on different courses was a truly joyous occasion.
“The members of the Nissan 4×4 Club who took part in this event were overwhelmed with joy – perhaps even more so than these special young people,” says Nissan 4×4 Club Chairman, Glyn Demmer. “It’s a heart-warming affair, seeing the smiling faces and excitement spread throughout the group. We even had lumps in our throats after a young girl stood up to sing a thank you song, her classmates later joining in to create a truly blessed atmosphere.”
Spoiled further with lunch, dessert, refreshments and goodie bags, a jumping castle and face-painting were also at their disposal to keep them entertained after they returned from the trail. A memento photograph session was also held.

Tiqwa is a Hebrew word meaning Hope and Expectation. Tiqwa, the school is now in its 32 year of existence – and was founded in 1982 by a group of concerned parents who felt that no suitable institution existed to develop their children to the full.
We believe every child should be given a chance in life. With a special approach to teaching and learning, and with small classes of about 6 – 8 children per teacher, we have achieved many successes.
Tiqwa is registered with the Gauteng Education Department as a school for learners with special Education needs (LSEN). The school does NOT receive a subsidy from the Government. Tiqwa is a registered Non-profit Organisation.

Kokomori Birders Lodge – rustic privacy near busy border post
The entrance to Kokomori Birders Lodge is on the road from Lephalale (Ellisras), about 10 km before the Groblersbrug border post. From the entrance, you follow a gravel road through game and potato farms for a further 8 km or so before reaching the house of Dian Geerskens, a potatoe farmer and owner of Kokomori Birders Lodge. Dian’s farm border on the Limpopo river. It is here where he established the Kokomori Birders Lodge.
There are 4 chalet units built with material to have the least impact on the environment. Although the units can be classified as rustic, all the necessary requirements are there: electricity, geysers, showers and baths, braai lapas, wood, swimming pool, stylish bed rooms. The units are surrounded by man made ‘pools’ with constant water from the nearby Limpopo river. This is what makes this place a bird watcher’s paradise. More than 400 bird species were identified, including the sought after Pell’s fishing owl.
